"One woman said it's probably going to cost her a
divorce but she's going to spend the rest of her life
looking for her dog. She will not stop until she finds out
what happened to him. She said she had that dog eight years;
it's not just a dog, it's family."

International Day of
Action Against the Canada Seal Hunt
Activists are stepping up the pressure against the Canadian
government for the escalation of its commercial seal hunt. The
harp
seal hunt, which targets weeks-old seal pups, has been reviled
worldwide for its brutality. Sealers bludgeon young seals as
they
lie helpless on ice floes. Observers and scientists have noted
that
many of the animals are often still alive as they are skinned.
The Canadian seal hunt is the largest marine mammal hunt in
the
world, and it is still growing. Canadian government quotas
have set
the death toll at nearly a million seals over a three-year
period.
WHAT YOU CAN DO: March is a prime seal-killing month in
Canada, so
it's also a prime time for speaking out against this cruelty.
Join
The HSUS and other animal and environmental protection
organizations
for demonstrations against the seal hunt in one of over 50
cities
around the world!
When: Tuesday, March 15, 2005
